Scotian News

December 2022

Issue 154

We have been contacted by two FPs whose mothers have reached great ages and are to be congratulated. James Walshe’s mother turned 104 in November, and Scott Miller’s mother will be 102 in November.
Do we have any more centenarians?
Scott Miller is celebrating the birth of his fifth grandchild.

We understand that Peter West will return to reside in Scotland in April.

The annual newsletter is at hand.
First of all, our French teacher, Ian" Chips" McCafferty is now residing in a care home, but would love to hear from as many of his pupils as possible. His e-mail is ianmccafferty1@yahoo.com I hope as many of you as can, will send an e-mail.

Strange things happen to Scotus FP's. One time in the Edinburgh Sheriff Court a case was heard where both the Lawyers, Prosecuting and Defence, and the Defendent were all Scotus FPs.
Again, a few years ago the Deputy Governor of Saughton Prison had in his Prison 2 FPs.

The other day, I attended a funeral at Mortonhall Crematorium. The deceased was an ex wife of an FP. The Humanist Celebrant was an FP, and 8 other FPs attended. The following day, I attended the funeral, at the same venue, of Tony Rogers. 6 FPs were in attendance. The Celebrant was the wife of the previously mentioned celebrant. Imagine my shock when I found out that I had known her for 50 years, as she was the sister of 2 guys I played rugby with in the late 60s and early 70s.

As we are a finite society, we will always have deaths in our community. The following were noted during the year:-
Neil Allan(55-65)
Joe Barrett(53-54)
Tony Doherty(57-67)
Joe Flaherty(53-63)
Jakec Holdanowicz(56-59)
Jim McArdle(56-60)
Lorenzo Pelosi(56-63)
Tony Rogers(58-67)
Joe Tapper(57-63)
Frank Vernollini(57-60)
You will note that 2 of the original pupils in 1953 are listed.

May I wish all FPs a very merry Christmas, and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
Lindsay
