 School News

We have been advised by FPs of the recent deaths of two of our number:- many older FPs will be saddened by the death of Richard “Dickie” Devlin(53/58). Dickie was one of the originals that started on 16 September 1953, and was well known as the main face in the gents outfitters, Dunn & Co, on Edinburgh’s Princes Street. He was also an excellent East of Scotland Amateur footballer. We are also advised that Matthew O’Hara(56/62) has also died. Our sympathies are offered to both families.

New e-mail contact:- Stanley Walsingham.

Change of e-mail:- Richard Thomson; Donald Somerville (now retired);

Information re Festival events:-

Mike Maran has written:-

  Mike Maran here writing you a postcard from Tbilisi in Georgia where I am rehearsing at The Marjanishvili Theatre for a new show which we’re going to do in Edinburgh this year at Valvona & Crolla. The show is called ‘Platero Y Yo’ and is a stage adaptation of Juan Ramon Jimenez’s delightful portrait of Moguer, the small town near Seville where he grew up. ‘Platero Y Yo’ is ‘me and my donkey’ – and that’s the full cast of the show – me, and a puppet donkey created and manipulated by Nino Namitcheishvili. The show is directed by Levan Tsuladze. It’s a priviledge to be working with Nino, a puppeteer at the very top of her profession, and Levan who is a highly esteemed and hugely gifted director – a very big man working on a very small project. Our project may be small but it promises to be rich. The classical guitarist, Craig Ogden, is flying out to join us at the end of the month to record the soundtrack. It’ll sound good as well as looking good! I wanted to recommend it to you and I hoped that you might recommend it to your friends. I have started writing a blog which you can find at
www.platero-and-me.blogspot.com
I’ll be able to write something most days.
Best wishes,
Ciao!

Rickie Demarco sent a manuscript, a copy of which is attached.
